one shot

a term used in fanfictions to say that there will only be one body of text. (one chapter)
“severus snape struggles to find his way, and redemption, after the war. one shot.”
refers to fanfiction, which means that the fic is one chapter long and will not be continued. mostly canon.

a term used in halo 3 team multiplayer matches. when an opponent has no shields and is on the verge of death. all it takes is one more shot to finish him/her off.
1:
1st guy: over at sniper tower, he’s oneshot.
2nd guy: got em.
1st guy: niiiiice.

2:
1st guy: wtf dude, why didn’t you finish him off!? he was oneshot!!
2nd guy: i didn’t see him you f-cking -sshole!
when a person is knocked out cold, with one punch. typically “one shot” is delivered from a juicehead with a running start. one shot can result in an overnight in the county jail.
“that’s one shot kid, one shot!”
