derived from “oh no” in an uncultured accent. if something is ‘onyay’ it is without cl-ss or is unsophisticated whilst purporting to be upper-cl-ss or sophisticated.
“her hair cut is so onyay” used for example, if someone attampts to follow current fashions without success. eg a 1980’s cripm
