rebel couture
an oxymoron: rebel is to oppose and resist structure and order. haute couture is distinguished by set parameters and rules to be adhered.
rebel couture is a contradiction in terms: a protest with decorum that embraces and ridicules opposites simultaneously. it is when high-end meets street culture and has a love-in whilst throwing shades at the conformity to cl-ss and subculture through the medium of fashion.
often results in the hybrid of styles e.g. sartorial and athleisure.
example: silk dupion ball gown with random placed, dripping graffiti stencils of the chanel inverted c’s logo; that’s ‘rebel couture’.
