Rhetoriculous
when someone makes an argument that sounds compelling, but is actually just based in wordplay and not logic.
examples of rhetoriculous statements:
“if you can take a d-ck you can take a joke” (excuse for h-m-phobic jokes)
“if you don’t stand for something you’ll fall for anything” (there’s no correlation between having p-ssion for something and being immune to trickery. if anything, the opposite.)
john: “you preach tolerance, yet you’re intolerant of intolerance!”
xander: “that’s not how political sensitivity / tolerance works, and you know it. you’re being rhetoriculous, come back with an actual argument.”
