Sacrificial chip
that broken or small chip which is too tiny to be dipped so it is thrown into the dip and drowned so that it can be removed by a rescue chip.
my fingers get all cheesy trying to dip these crumbs! i’m going to throw these sacrificial chips in and go get a new bag of rescue chips!
