samplifier

a samplifier is a digital electronic device, also known as a “modeling” or “profiling” amp, for use with electric guitars and other electronic instruments. it samples and learns the characteristics of an actual instrument amplifier, which can then be saved for future use as well as transferred to other similar devices. the amplifier can then be used in place of the amplifier from which the sample was taken.
the samplifiers on the market today are getting quite good, but there are many who feel that they can’t quite capture the sound of a real vacuum tube (valve) amplifier.
