scar tissue replaces normal skin tissue after the skin is damaged. though scar tissue is made up of the same substance as undamaged skin, it looks different because of the way the fibers in the tissue are arranged. scars form every time the skin is damaged beyond its first layer, whether that damage comes from a cut, burn, or a skin condition like acne or a fungal infection. though there are ways to minimize the appearance of scars, there is no way to remove them entirely. usually originates from deep punctures or cuts that are not properly st-tched.

an outstanding red hot chili peppers song, the first single from the 1999 alb-m californication. the song is built around a mellow yet poignant guitar riff courtesy of john frusciante. lyrically fluid and beautiful, and instrumentally haunting, scar tisuue is probably my favourite chilis song.

the song contains 3 slide guitar solos, building in intensity and length each time, finishing with a p-ssionate 50-second p-ssage that serves as the song’s outro.

the video for scar tissue is often interpreted as a kind of sequel to the earlier give it away video. both are shot in a desert, but in give it away the band is young and energetic, wheras in scar tissue, nearly a decade later, they are driving a rusty old car and seem to be pretty battered and bruised – perhaps a metaphor for the band, and john in particular, finally conquering addiction – they are better for it, but it has left them scarred.

scar tissue is also the name of anthony kiedis’ autobiography – an excellent read, i’m sure you’ll agree.

an excellent song written by anthony kiedis and performed by the red hot chili peppers, the greatest band ever to grace the earth. it is also the name of anthony kiedis’ autobiography. it was published in 2004. it told the story of kiedis’ youth and the success of the band as well as he and his friends struggles with drug and alcohol addiction.
