to ignore someone or continuously not follow through with an engagement.
“where were you last friday? you never called me back. i hate it when you shine me on like that.”
has nothing to do with the disgusting definitions some crude people with no upbringing have submitted for phrases relating to “shine”. no. it simply means to ignore someone.
…such as when a guy is trying to flirt with a girl and she ignores him. he might say to her, “you shinin’ me on, baby? okay, i see how it is. just shine me on.”
