sociolect
in sociolinguistics, a social dialect -ssociated with a certain socioeconomic cl-ss, ethnic or age group. it is a combination of the terms “social” or “socioeconomic” with “dialect.”
valspeak is a sociolect that originated in california’s san fernando valley in the 1970s with the language of the valley girl. examples are “fer shur” and “totally” usually made with high variation in pitch. popularized in music and film in the 1980s.
