mostly known as “la selva” or “the jungle”; a lower-cl-ss neighborhood of the semi-upper-middle cl-ss suburban town, melrose park located in illinois. popular for its gang activity as a violent place to live. any person with a hispanic background will enter into this neighborhood, where their family members might or might not reside. any other person from a different background may joke about the j, calling it “the ghetto.”
