the umbrella academy is a comic book series written by gerard way of my chemical romance and drawn by gabriel ba. it is published by dark horse comics. the first part of the series is called the apocalypse suite and follows the lives of a scientist (who is really an alien) who adopts seven babies who were mysteriously born even though their mothers showed no signs of pregnancy. the series so far consists of six issues: the day the eiffel tower went beserk, we only see each other at weddings and funerals, dr. terminal’s answer; baby, i’ll be your frankenstein; thanks for the coffee; finale, or brothers and sisters, i am an atomic bomb. the second part of the series, while following the same characters as the apocalypse suite, is ent-tled dallas, with the first issue coming out november 26, 2008. the second issue is due out december 24, 2008.
the umbrella academy has brought comic books back to popularity.
