v day, short for v-g-n- day, is conveniently celebrated on february 14th, and is enjoyed by all. many are unaware that when they yell “happy v day”, (intending to mean happy valentines day), they are really wishing the other person’s v-g-n- has a happy day.

valentines day, the most greatest day for couples all over the world. sucks for all the “lonely” people and they hate it but that also means less money to spend which is a good thing.

v day or v-g-n- day is a day established by eve ensler, author of the v-g-n- monologues, to end domestic violence and s-xual abuse of women. it is celebrated on valentine’s day and many communities put on plays from parts of the v-g-n- monologues or additional stories related to -rg-sms, menarche, first s-xual experiences, s-xuality, molestation, rape, etc. they express what a v-g-n- would say if it could talk. proceeds from the plays go towards centers for domestic violence and rape preventions.
on v day, i went to see the v-g-n- monologues in new york. whoopi goldberg, gloria steinem, rosie perez, kate winslet, glenn close, cate blanchett, susan sarandon, winona ryder, and lily tomlin. it was hilarious, sad, heartbreaking, and eye-opening.

v-day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. v-day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. v-day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (fgm) and s-xual slavery.
for this year’s v-day campaign, 92 women auditioned for our university’s production of the v-g-n- monologues.
