vintpunk
vintage-punk. something or someone who is unabashedly and often eccentricly vintage; combining older pieces of clothing with a care-free f-ck-all att-tude. often seen in genuine “punk”, “indie”, or “no-name” aesthetics.
the clothing is often bought from bargain re-sellers, like the salvation army, thrift stores or antique shops. some items can be “new”, but styled in a vintage or hand-crafted way.
the use of “punk” is to denote a carefree rebel aesthetic, tossing the “rules” of fashion and period-appropriateness (e.g., wearing a petticoat and a child’s tee-shirt with combat boots)
it’s not to describe someone who would sport a “cl-ssic punk”/”punk rock” look, but rather someone who utilizes the basic core punk-ideals: diy-ethics and individuality.
melba’s outfit made me think of a 50’s greaser’s girl-gone-80’s; total vintpunk.
