washington at chester
1. washington college, founded in 1782 when george washington planted 50 guineas next to the chester river in chestertown, maryland. in his honor there is a bronze head on the central campus walkway as well as a verdigras statue of his likeness overlooking the campus green.
2. a nod toward wac, a beloved but officially unendorsed acronym for washington college.
many students attend washington at chester for the writing program, which is overseen by a cat named edith wharton.
