1. a u-turn or sharp reversal in opinion, germanic in origin. mainly political usage.
2. ironically, its common slang use in the north of england is almost the exact opposite of the previous definition – i.e. meaning someone who is impossibly stubborn and will not budge on an initial decision, regardless of additional evidence or data being supplied by other parties.
