the process, usually applied to one of southern upbringing, of being -ssimilated into the northern (or yankee) way of life. this may include words used inconversation, accents, driving styles and choices in beer. this process normally takes a certain amount of time and is not completed overnight, but is highly noticable when the person returns to their point of origin for a visit.
after moving from austin to chicago, i was clear that becky had become yanktified by how she sped through yellow lights and constantly pressed the car horn.
