AK-12

semi-automatic 12 gauge shotgun built on the ak-47 design. slightly modified to permit larger sh-ll size, this excellent offering from izmash -rs-nal in russia accepts box magazines holding between four and ten rounds at present. larger capacities are rumored to exist. the stock weapon uses an adjustable gas system to permit it to cycle low-br-ss “target” loads or full-sized sh-lls. a number of short-barrel highly customized versions are availabe and very attractive as home-defense and offensive weapons.

a new modular -ssault rifle developed by izhmash to replace the ak-74m and ak-10x series. chambered in 5.45x39mm, 5.56x45mm nato, 7.62x39mm, and 7.62x51mm nato. the prototype was called the ak-200. it’s called the ak12 now because it’s supposed to enter production in 2012. it may replace or supplement the ak-74m as the standard russian service rifle, since the russian government can’t afford to buy an-94s for everybody (except certain spetsnaz groups) at the moment. the 60-round 5.45x39mm magazine designed for the ak-12 will also work in the ak-74, rpk-74, aek-971, and an-94, as all of these guns share the same magazine design.

apparently some hicks also call the saiga-12, vepr-12, and ks-k (karabin spetsialny kalashnikova- the military version of the saiga-12) “ak-12s” because they’re chambered for 12 gauge shotsh-lls.
i really hope they replace the ak-47 with the ak-12 and an-94 in the next call of duty since only seriously impoverished terrorists use ak-47s these days.
what people who don’t know guns would call a saiga 12.

a saiga 12 is a russian designed kalashnikov-pattern semi-automatic combat shotgun. it has excellent reliability due to it’s ak style design and is manufactured by izhmash in russia. pretty awesome, really.
called an “ak-12” by the uneducated, saiga 12’s are cl-ssified as an -ssault weapons in california.
one look at this and stupid people who don’t know what a gun is would call it an ak47
