a false story told by an alibi, an invention by a co-conspirator to mask the truth of someone’s whereabouts.
in truth, mr. jones was using his lunch break to sleep with ms. coopers, but his secretary knowingly aliblied to mrs. jones, telling her mr. jones was playing a game of golf with his boss.
later, mr. jones thanked his secretary for the aliblie.
