Bar Martyr
a person, commonly found in a bar, who frequently engages the most clearly damaged individual in the room despite warnings or signs of any kind. this term was coined by florida singer/songwriter michael j weiss in his song ent-tled “bar martyr.” this song tells the story of a situation involving the original bar martyr and his attempt to get the attention of a clearly intoxicated and crazy individual.
a bar martyr would ignore all warnings and attempt to pick up the easiest prey in the bar simply because it’s the path of least resistance. for this person to be a true bar martyr, the reasons and warnings not to do so must be overwhelming.
