basque

an autonomous community in northern spain which also extends into southern france (where it is known as pays basque). many basques consider themselves to be a separate people from the french and the spanish.

the basques have their own language called euskera and use it in combination with spanish or french (depending on which region of the basque country they are from) in their everyday dialect. the basques’ favourite sports are cycling, football and their own ‘basque sports’, rugby is also extremely popular in the french region of the basque country. basque chefs are famous for their cooking abilities and basque seafood dishes are renowned my many throughout the world.

many basques wish for there to be self determination for the basque country, which means that they want there to be a vote which decides whether they can form their own country or not. however this is unlikely to happen because it would require both the spanish and french governments to cooperate in handing territory over to the basques. the partic-p-ting governments, particularly in spain, would also risk losing popularity amongst the wider national community if they were to do this.
“i am not spanish, i am basque.”
refers to the language, culture, and/or traditional homeland of the basque people, centered in a region of northern spain and south-western france.

considered to be europe’s oldest inhabitants, their language, euskara, is an anomoly – not related to any other known language. it is widely renowned to be the hardest language on earth. typical basque costume includes the compuslory beret (txapela) for men, with a red neckerchief. basques are usually fair-skinned and have black hair, but blue eyes sometimes.

they are widely known in the united states as shepherds. the largest concentrated basque diaspora population in the us is in boise, idaho, followed by reno, nevada.

traditional activites include improvised singing compet-tions (bertsolariak), and “strong man” feats of strength.

the most delicious drink on the face of the planet, the kalimotxo (mixture of cheap red wine and coca-cola) is of basque origin.

the basque people are very interesting and intelligent people. they are smart because they keep to themselves and resent smelly french and gay spainards. they formed eta the euskadi ta askatana(sorry to any basque on the spelling) which is the group who fight for the land. there might be a famous basque celebrity, carlos alzaraqui of reno 911! the name sounds basque. the gipsy kings also sometimes sing in basque.
the basque should continue to bomb the spanish, who are utterly gay with their j-zzy paella, tainted red wine, and stupid singers(i.e. las ketchup and los del rio)
