to “be a babu” means to procrastinate or take forever to do a simple task…
originated from the term “babu”: a government worker (in indian subcontinent), typically a clerk or official, who takes a year to do what would normally take a day…. unless he/she has a vested interest (such as bribe) to get it done faster…
guy: dude, what’s taking you so long to finish the paperwork?
friend: i dunno man…. i’m not sure i want to do it…
guy: don’t be a babu now!
