southern slang for body language interpreted as puffing up as if preparing to fight someone.

most commonly used in phrases between to people within the first 20 heated seconds before the fight breaks out.
“you better grow up… before you bow up….”

“are you bowing up? i know you aint bowing up…”
phrase used to illicit the visual of a sometimes drunken person’s body language who is about to get into / pick a fist fight.
at the country concert, a redneck takes his shirt off, puts his hat on backwards and starts to bow up to the dude he thinks burned his girlfirend with a cigarette to defend her honor.
to have diarrhea and belly cramps that make you want to bend over while sitting on the toilet or in other words bow up.
