a polite and empathic way of dealing with others, as characterised by courtesy, attention to detail, reverence, respect, and occasional awed crying at trivial aspects of a person or place. brettiquette can be displayed in everything from chivalry at the workplace to sparkly-eyed delight at the history in someone’s wrinkles. it is usually accompanied by wine and a glowing face.
