facebook anomaly

when a facebook announcement about something is way off base, such as announcing that a long term couple has broken up when in reality someone just checked the wrong box or didn’t want to specify their relationship status anymore, or was simply having a joke.

often results in a flood of posts from people offering sympathy, with the occasional post demanding to know whether it is true or not.
tell me it’s not true! this is a facebook anomaly right?!
