Fauxbalt
a pejorative term used regionally in vancouver, bc, to denote the falseness or fraudulence of the “new” cobalt. the cobalt was once a world renowned hardcore music venue catering to the punk & metal scenes. it nurtured the early careers of countless local and touring bands as well as provided a place for established bands to play in an authentic atmosphere with a truly wicked sound system. now under new management the cobalt has reopened as a den of posers and tryhards happily throwing dance parties on the ashes of vancouver’s music scene.
trendy hipster: “hey man, are gonna check out the dance party at the cobalt this weekend?”
metalhead: “f-ck that!!! death to the fauxbalt!!!”
