first year psych theory

a statement made by someone about another’s mental state based on little or no knowledge in psychology.
this phrase was originally derived because of the fact that most first year university or college students have a course in psychology.
“i can tell he misses his parents, but he can’t take anything seriously so he thinks everything is a joke”

“is that your first year psych theory?”
