what gets run on you when you get drunk at a company outing, mess up at work, or even have something beneficial happen to you. gossip used to be spread slowly at the water cooler, but emails to half a company is the main mechanism by which this gossip is spread. the occurrence of an event can be spread to everyone you don’t want it to to within 5 minutes of the start of the work day with a single email.
by 8 a.m., all of the secretaries at work were running the gossip train on jim when he got drunk at a company outing on friday night and felt up the boss’s wife and made out with the back of her neck after he puked in their washing machine.
