Hook and Reel


a phrase (along with an action that consists of pretending to throw a fishing rod into a lake, an implied biting of a ‘fish’ and a subsequent reeling in of that ‘fish’) which is to encourage/humiliate someone trying to ‘get in’ with another (usually of thee opposite gender). either just the phrase ‘hook in’ or ‘reel in’, the action or both can be used to convey the message. the hook signifies establishing a conversation while the reel signifies getting closer and more personal.
boy: hey how was your day
girl: good how was yours?
friend: (does hook and reel action)
boy: (embarr-ssed)
