horror punk is a dark style of music mixing gothic and punk rock sounds with morbid imagery. often, song topics are taken from horror movies, but the best horror punk creates atmosphere by telling tales through the song. usually with poetic lyrics.

a genre of punk started in the early 70’s by a man named glenn danzig with his punk band the misfits. catagorized by love for things of macabre nature. usually dead things. often mis catagorized with horrorbilly and deathrock. the genre is generally underground but holds several succesful shows each year the most noteable in germany. although many people who listen to this type of punk are not considered true punks. most will listen to the misfits before moving on to something else. a pick up in the genre with recent pop-punk or emo bands has casted a bad image on the genre. you can usually tell a horror punk by the trademark devilock.
