hot joint
an old term for jail. synonymous with: crossbar hotel, greybar hotel, jug, lock-down, etc.
“hot joint” was made popular as a phrase by the johnny cash song: cocaine blues.
1. that negro had dope on him when he was searched. he went to the hot joint for the weekend.
2. the white-trash -ssholes decided to fistfight. they went to the hot joint in separate police cars.
