iraquagmire is a combination of iraq and quagmire. the words are joined together to characterized the war in iraq/operation iraqi freedom due to a belief in a small hope of victory, poorly-defined objectives “staying the course” (which the course is to where exactly?) and/or no clear exit strategy.
