Jumping Beans
people who unexpectedly jump into a spanish accent mid-sentence when pr-nouncing the word “latino,” only to finish their statement in accent-free english.
though jumping beans were at one time latino newscasters exclusively, people of any race or occupation can now be jumping beans.
a jumping bean is a person of non-latino heritage who -ssumes a latino accent when saying words in spanish. i have to clarify that one can say the proper word without -ssuming the accent.
i saw mr. hernandez (pr-nounced “hairnondayz” with thick, sent-up latino accent) on the street today.
