kilig

1. noun. it is the sudden feeling of an inexplicable joy one gets when something romantic or idealistic occurs.

when kilig, one may experience the following:

-b-tterflies in one’s stomach
-heart melting
-shivers down one’s spine
-irrepressible noises from one’s mouth
-uncontrollable smiling
-an inner conflict between hope of something wished for and reality

kilig may also be defined as that mountain top, floating, on cloud nine, invincible, i-could-keep-smiling, heart aching goodness and feeling which overpowers the mind’s ability to think straight, act straight, breathe properly and articulate thoughts into a single comprehensible sentence.

“kilig” is an expression, reaction, or feeling that makes someone blush after an event… something that makes girls squirm on the inside as if saying “omg! that is sooo sweet!” without being too obvious about it. it’s that romantic factor when watching chick flicks and some cheesy dialogue literally takes someone’s breath away.

or that ‘tingly’ and ‘excited’ feeling you feel, especially when watching romantic films.

i don’t think there’s an english word or phrase for it. even b-tterfly stomach doesn’t do justice to “kilig”.
