to relegate an extremely brilliant song to the status of a b-side or soundtrack contribution. the origin comes from pearl jam leaving the absolutely awesome track “yellow ledbetter” off of their 1991 debut alb-m ‘ten’, instead making it the b-side to “jeremy”, although “yellow ledbetter” has since become one of their most well-known songs.
person a: man, i just heard “girl afraid” by the smiths for the first time! i can’t believe it was a b-side!
person b: yeah, man, they totally ledbettered it.
