refers to the nypd (new york police department), or to any other police officer operating within the state of new york, albeit preferably new york city, manhattan, brooklyn, and other well-known major cities.

the name to describe a jerk cop from new york who thinks they’re the sh-t. they are likely to try to arrest you for no reason.
as i arrived at my destination i saw a couple of new york’s finest. i gave a little smirk and before you knew it they were trying to arrest me!
