peted (verb) – to get unintentionally screwed over in commonly positive situations, often times more than once. when a genuine action results in negative consequences.

a figure of speech derived from an individual (pete) who continually receives the short end of the stick in public & private situations.
after waiting in line at best buy since 5 am for the new nintendo wii, i was totally peted when the geek squad cut in front of me and took the last one.

friend #1: “hey man, how did the date go?” friend #2 reply “great until i got peted when our server at bennigan’s happened to be her ex-boyfriend”
