Post-Yacht Rock
music inspired by the mor soundtrack alb-ms of the mid-1980s, as typified by artists such as kenny loggins, jan hammer, billy ocean, and glenn frey. similar to yacht rock, but open to a wider range of musical influences. post-yacht rock often incorporates elements of hard rock, smooth jazz, synth pop, calypso, soft rock, reggae, and arena rock. post-yacht rock is typified by musicians who unironically embrace the sound of kenny loggins’ “highway to the danger zone.” it is especially popular among college students who grew up listening to cover songs performed on reality compet-tion tv shows.
