reality-pop
a musical genre or style defined by groups such as the streets and the artic monkeys. essentially a lyrical style that encapsulates ordinary life experience shared by non-celebrity listeners, elevated beyond the b-n-l to a shared meaningful significance in a regional or colloquial speech style. emotionally charged but understated to maintain street credibilty.
the artic monkeys have managed to cosolidate and develop the new musical style or genre which may be usefully described or identified as ‘reality-pop’, perhaps being first produced by the streets.
