(adj) a word used to describe a situation that is so terrifying, the word scary is not an accurate descriptor. perhaps rooted in some combination of scary and horror, the term is seldom used in common conversation because situations that warrant its use are so rare.
person 1: “it is pitch black right now, i can’t see a single thing!”
