the process of commenting on someone’s status, by ignoring the status and posting a comment that is totally unconnected to the original topic in the hope of starting a different conversation entirely.
a statusblank can be anything that changes the discussion of someone’s status immediately
your status: just back from holiday was great!
friends comment: i’ve been on holiday too!
this is not a stausblank, although it moves the conversation away from your holiday it is still in context.
an example of a great statusblank would be:
your status: just back from holiday was great!
friends comment: oh my god i have just been burgled, was awful.
