surf boat
a surf boat is an oar-driven boat designed to enter the ocean from the beach in heavy surf or severe waves.
traditionally surf boats were used for rescue during surf life saving patrols. due to the invention of powered vessels such as inflatable skiffs surf boats are no longer used for rescues.
they are however used in sport, and any surf boat rower will tell you that it is the greatest sport under the sun. any non surf boat rower will call them nuts!
