also known as the “prost-tutes’ puzzle” in china. a popular 1000-year-old seven-piece puzzle that was played by chinese prost-tutes, while waiting for their johns.
unlike ordinary folks who toy around with the tangram to form shapes like animals and people, mathematicians have a fetish for forming geometric shapes or convex polygons, of which only 13 such shapes—1 triangle, 6 quadrilaterals, 2 pentagons, 4 hexagons—exist.
