this is an empty headed non-concept. no one can give more that 100%. saying he (or) she gave it 110 percent is also saying the person who gave it 100 percent still could have (or should have) given more. what nonsense! if anything using this phrase is negative, a put down of everyone else partic-p-ting.
if i give 110 percent to this project, i will successfully be able to squeeze 10 percent more energy out of every battery than is scientifically possible.
to try extreamly hard or over the top to make someone have excreatating pain and to suffer a gaint loss because of how hard you are trying.
