a thatcherite striver is someone born in the 1960’s/70’s who humiliates themselves in debates about british politics by heckling normal civilised critical debate about the state of british politics with statements like “thatcher made me the man/woman i am today”, “thatcher levelled the playing field and allowed the lower middle cl-sses and working cl-sses to prosper, by which i mean myself only because i know f-ck all about the state of the rest of the country er…”
when the extremely patient, civilised guests attempt to help the humiliated guest by stating straightforward facts that will promote understanding like “thatcher cut taxes for the richest in society”, “inequality soared and social mobility declined because of thatcher” “you need a £4 million deposit to be able to start your own bank so there is no striving compet-tion within the banking industry. alternatively the banking industry has become even more of a monopoly under thatcher.”
at this point the thatcherite striver will repeat the same statements made prior like a conspiracy theorist until the debate is closed forcefully be the long suffering chair.
