adsl is a fully digital, dedicated connection to the telephone system that provides download speeds up to 9 mbps and upload speeds up to 1mbps over pstn lines. internet service providers must support adsl. the most common adsl installation includes and adsl modem connected to a telephone jack and to a network interface card (nic) in the computer.
