the process by which foreigners living in the us find their tolerance for cornyness significantly increased, i.e. by getting teary-eyed when watching a presidential address, developing a need to cry and tell your friends you love them on a daily basis, or by getting strongly emotionally involved in the chris brown/rihanna affair.
