an animal-like robot; a machine or man-made automaton that resembles and acts like an animal of a specific type or species. compare to android.
the term originated during the making of the sci-fi/cyberpunk film “blade runner” to describe the artificially created animals bought and sold as pets and status symbols.

a humonoid that has definite characteristics of an animal; devoid of basic human ethics and/or behavior; someone solely concerned with their own state of emotion without regard to anything else.
