the act of tapping one’s foot on the floor, while seated in a public bathroom stall, to alert anyone trying to enter the stall (see t-rd burglar) that it is occupied. named for actor/tapdancer fred astaire.
i was on the john takin’ a dump and had to perform an astaire cuz somebody kept trying to open the stall door.
