awk shock
the stomach-turning shock that fills your body when you notice that someone who are awkward with (ie a previous hook up, or some one that you are embarr-ssed to be around) is in the vicinity. an awk shock may lead to a feeling of fear and nervousness, and the act of squealing, running, ducking, or hiding to avoid the awkwardness.
i had a full-blown awk shock when i turned around to see that the person who i hooked up with last week was standing right in front of me in the dining hall.
