backsound
the high-pitched nasal sound that is heard by non-americans while one american speaks loudly in the background, generally heard when traveling through a beautiful place far, far away from the u.s. (such as italy). generally though, for some inexplicable reason there is always backsound.
and suddenly the backsound is heard “oh my, guard. this is just like nhew yorrk”
